The Participants of the VI International Winter School of Multiculturalism Met with the Diplomats
On 16 February Azerbaijan University of Languages hosted a meeting of the participants of the VI International Winter School of Multiculturalism with the members of the diplomatic representations of different countries to Baku.
The Rector of Azerbaijan University of Languages, Chair of the Board of Trustees of Baku International Centre of Multiculturalism Academician Kamal Abdulla gave information to the guests about the multicultural and tolerant environment in our country. He stated that by the Order of the Azerbaijani President 2016 was declared “the Year of Multiculturalism” in our country. He noted that since that day up to present Baku International Centre of Multiculturalism has been cooperating with different universities of the world. Kamal Abdulla spoke of the importance of the project on teaching the course “Azerbaijani Multiculturalism” in the national and foreign universities. The academician emphasized the opportunity to get information about the multi-ethnic and multiconfessional state of our country through this project. It was pointed out that this course is being taught at 38 leading universities of Azerbaijan and 18 prestigious universities abroad. The VI International Winter School of Multiculturalism “Dialogue Among Civilizations: New Challenges’ held by President Ilham Aliyev’s recommendation and organizational support of Baku International Centre of Multiculturalism is attended by the students from different universities of the world. They familiarize themselves with Azerbaijan, the multicultural ambiance in our country and get profound information. Kamal Abdulla expressed his hope that the relations between the participants of the Winter School and their Azerbaijani peers will further continue.
The Acting Executive Director of Baku International Centre of Multiculturalism Ravan Hasanov gave information on the Summer and Winter Schools. He said that the projects of the Summer and Winter Schools have been successfully continuing since the establishment of Baku International Centre of Multiculturalism in May 2014. The course “Azerbaijani Multiculturalism” provides the students at different universities of the world with theoretical knowledge. The main goal in the implementation of this project is inculcating practical knowledge in the students who have got theoretical knowledge.
It was pointed out that about 30 students from the leading universities of 16 countries – Azerbaijan, Austria, Afghanistan, Bulgaria, Estonia, Georgia, Germany, Indonesia, Japan, Montenegro, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Great Britain and Ukraine are taking part in the VI International Winter School of Multiculturalism.
Further, the participants of the Winter School shared their impressions of Azerbaijan.
