INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE DEDICATED TO ISLAMOPHOBIA CONTINUES WITH PANEL SESSIONS

Experts discussed the critical problem of Islamophobia and the importance of an intersectional approach to figting it at plenary session on "The importance of an intersectional approach in fighting Islamophobia and new perspectives" organized within the framework of the international conference on "Islamophobia as a specific form of racism and discrimination: New global and transnational challenges" New perspectives have been presented to fight discrimination against Islam at the meeting moderated by Ravan Hasanov, Executive Director of the Baku International Multiculturalism Center. The impact of Islamophobia on human rights, society, and global communities was emphasized.
Aydin Safikhanli, Head of the Office of the Ombudsman for Human Rights of Azerbaijan, Member of the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation emphasized that the genocide committed by Armenians in the city of Khojaly on February 26, 1992 is a an obvious manifestation of Islamophobia and Turkophobia. He stated that All civilian facilities, cultural and religious architectural monuments - mosques, places of religious worship, cemeteries - located in the historical and ancestral lands of Azerbaijan have been mercilessly destroyed, insulted and looted during the occupation of Armenia. "Representatives of many international organizations have directly observed these acts of vandalism committed by Armenia and noted them in their reports. But, the impunity of lawbreakers and criminals in the world, as well as having double standards, create the basis for the repetition of such tragic events." – said A.Safikhanli. 
Speeches of Salman Seyid, Sultan Ahmed Sahibzadeh, Muhammad al-Shahhat al-Jindi, Farid Muhic, and Said Ahmed Khan were heard at the conference. Discussions were held around the topic.
Note that, Baku International Multiculturalism Center, Center for the Analysis of International Relations and G20 Interfaith Dialogue Forum hold an international conference on "Islamophobia as a Specific Form of Racism and Discrimination: New Global and Transnational Challenges" is being held to mark the International Day against Islamophobia on on 15th and 16th of March. Main goal of conference is to create an academic platform to discuss alarming trends targeting Muslims and Muslim-populated countries at the international and national levels.
