PARTICIPANTS OF MULTICULTURALISM WINTER SCHOOL WERE INFORMED ABOUT RELIGIOUS TOLERANCE IN AZERBAIJAN

Participants of  XIII International Multiculturalism Winter School organized by Baku International Multiculturalism Center (BIMC) got acquainted with Tazapir mosque on February 20.

Detailed information about the history of the mosque was given to participants of Winter Schhol.

It was stated that, this mosque is considered the religious center not only of Azerbaijan, but of the entire Caucasus. The mosque was built in 1905 based on the project of Zivarbey Ahmadbeyov with the funds of Nabat Ashurbeyli-Rzayeva.   

It was brought to attention that, Rare examples of the Azerbaijani school of painting and Eastern ornament were used on the walls of the mosque and under the dome. The altar is made of tiles and marble, the window structures of the dome were renewed and replaced with latticed wooden windows.

In the end the participants' questions were answered.

Note that, scientists, trainers, youths from 20 countries are pariticpating in Winter School.

Let's remind that, 30 students, including 25 foreign and 5 local students from the leading universities of Azerbaijan, Turkey, Brazil, Romania, Germany, Palestine, Russia, United States of America, Georgia, Pakistan, Iraq, Bulgaria, Mozambique, Central African Republic, Syria, Sri Lanka, China and Japan are participating in XIII International Multiculturalism Winter School. Winter school to be lasted until February 26  will operate in Guba, Gusar and Khachmaz districts as well as Baku city.
