Caucasian Albania is an integral part of the historical and cultural heritage of Azerbaijan. The “We Learning Caucasian Albania” project is one of the important projects implemented by the Baku International Multiculturalism Center from the first days of its activity. The focus is on the research of local and foreign scholars on the material and cultural heritage, history, geography, and population of Caucasian Albania, which dates back to the ancient and early medieval periods of Azerbaijani history within the framework of the project. International conferences, presentations, and round tables are regularly organized with purpose to disseminate the research to a wide audience.
It should be noted that Azerbaijan plays the role of the core research center in the world for the systematic study of the history and ethno-cultural heritage of Caucasian Albania. Caucasian Albania has kept an significant place in the life of the region for nearly a thousand years and has left behind a significant historical heritage. As a result of the comprehensive study of this heritage, the scientific field of Albanian studies was created and is still developing today. The Republic of Azerbaijan is the direct historical heir and protector of the rich Albanian ethno-cultural heritage, the ancient and early medieval culture of Caucasian Albania, and the entire historical and religious heritage created by the ethnic groups that lived in this territory in next centuries. The study of important problems of Albanian studies in the fields of history, archaeology, anthropology, ethnology, linguistics, architecture, and art, and the preservation and protection of the Albanian ethno-cultural heritage are among the significant directions of our country's multiculturalism policy.
