THE MEMORY OF THE VICTIMS OF THE KHOJALI GENOCIDE WAS COMMEMORATED AT THE MULTICULTURAL CENTER
A commemorative event regarding the 31st anniversary of the Khojaly genocide was held in Baku International Multiculturalism Center (BIMC). Historians, leaders of ethnic communities in our country and residents of Khojaly took part in the event.
Firstly, the memory of the victims of the Khojaly genocide, our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the freedom and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, was commemorated with a minute of silence.
Ravan Hasanov, executive director of the Baku International Multiculturalism Center, who opened the event with his opening speech, stated that, the atrocities committed by the Armenian fascist gangs against civilians, women, children and the elderly 31 years ago in the night of February 25-26, 1992, in the city of Khojaly, will never be forgotten, we will make the perpetrators of these crimes answer before the international court.
Other historians who spoke at the event- doctors of history Havva Mammadova and Nigar Gozalova emphasized that what happened in Khojaly is one of the most terrible crimes committed against humanity in the 20th century.
It was emphasized that important steps are being taken by our state in the sphere of introducing the genocide to the world.
Fuad Nurullayev, Deputy Chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Board, Milikh Yevdayev, Chairman of the Religious Community of Baku Mountain Jews, stated in their speeches that, the actions committed against the Azerbaijani civilian population in Khojaly should be evaluated as war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide at the international level.
The residents of Khojaly, Aliya Abishova, Nazim Huseynov, who witnessed the events talked about the bitter consequences of the massacre committed 31 years ago, the bloody crimes committed by Armenian armed forces, the calamities inflicted on innocent people. It is mentioned that, our glorious Army freed Karabakh from enemy occupation in the 44-day Patriotic War and avenged the victims of the Khojaly tragedy thanks to the wise policy and leadership skills of President, Victorious Supreme Commander Ilham Aliyev.
