Azerbaijani multiculturalism discussed at a scientific conference in Poland

A scientific conference titled “Azerbaijan: History, Society and Culture” was held in Warsaw. The conference was organized by the Center for Azerbaijani Studies operating under the Warsaw University with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Poland. The conference was attended by Hasan Hasanov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to Poland, Rafal Poborsky, Deputy Director of Eastern Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ambassador of Poland to Azerbaijan, Piotr Taraha, Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies at the Warsaw University, Gulnara Agalarova, Advisor of the Azerbaijan International Development Agency (AIDA), Eltay Aslanov, Second Secretary of AIDA, Ilaha Karimova, the teacher of the subject of “Azerbaijani Multiculturalism” at the Wroclaw University of Poland in the framework of a project of Baku International Multiculturalism Center (BIMC), Aynur Bashirli, employee of the Institute of History of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), Jeyhun Rzayev, Assistant Professor of the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy (ADA University), Nargiz Akhundova and Shahla Kazimova, employees of the Center for Azerbaijani Studies, as well as professors of Polish universities, representatives of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Poland and students.  

Opening the event with an introductory speech, Piotr Taraha, Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies at the Warsaw University, emphasized the importance of the conference in introducing the scientific audience and general public of Poland to the history and culture of Azerbaijan. Ambassador Hasan Hasanov also highly evaluated the role of such events during his speech.

Next, Ilaha Karimova, the teacher of the subject of “Azerbaijani Multiculturalism” at the Wroclaw University of Poland in the framework of a BIMC project, presented a special lecture focused on the ethnocultural and religious diversity in Azerbaijan, the implementation of a state policy on multiculturalism, the success of the Azerbaijani model of multiculturalism, as well as the activity of BIMC. She also informed the participants about the teaching of the Azerbaijani multiculturalism at higher education institutions of foreign countries, and more specifically about the lessons conducted on the subject at the Polish University.

 The conference continued with scientific discussions.
