Azerbaijani multiculturalism will be taught in Romania

The Baku International Multiculturalism Centre successfully continues the project of teaching the Azerbaijani Multiculturalism in local and foreign universities. Currently, the Azerbaijani Multiculturalism is taught within the framework of the project in 38 republican and 20 leading world universities. Recall that the said project was launched after the approval of educational programs on the disciplines of Introduction to Multiculturalism and Azerbaijan Multiculturalism by the Ministry of Education on the idea and initiative of the Chairman of the BIMC’s Board of Trustees, academician Kamal Abdullayev. A wide positive experience has already been gained in teaching this discipline. The use of a textbook on Azerbaijani multiculturalism published also in English along with Azerbaijani, has contributed to improving the quality of teaching.

Starting from the new academic year, the list of foreign universities teaching the Azerbaijani Multiculturalism will also include the Romanian University named after Alexandru Ioan Cuza. An agreement has already been concluded between the BIMC and the University’s management. This discipline will be taught by the doctor of philological sciences Ludmila Bejenaru. It should be added that the 9th BIMC branch is planned to open in Romania. Ludmila Bejenaru will also manage the BIMC’s Romanian branch.

Recall that the lessons of the Azerbaijani model of multiculturalism are conducted based on an agreement concluded between the Baku Multiculturalism International Centre and foreign universities. The majority of students enrolled in classes are those who wish to study and build business in our country in the future, as well as those who plan to teach disciplines related to Azerbaijan in their universities and for this purpose to master the knowledge of our culture, history, literature and multicultural situation. Selected students shall also have the opportunity to participate in winter and summer schools in Azerbaijan. This, in turn, is also one of the student stimulating factors. As can be seen, the consistent and purposeful work performed by the BIMC to implement the initiative of President Ilham Aliyev on “representing Azerbaijan as the centre of multiculturalism in the world” is bearing fruit. Teaching Azerbaijani multiculturalism abroad today not only covers a wider geography, but also strengthens its sphere of influence and power.
