A MEMBER OF THE BELGIAN PARLIAMENT HAS BEEN AT THE CENTER FOR MULTICULTURALISM

Belgian Parliament member Michael Freylik visited the Baku International Multiculturalism Center (BIMC). 
Ravan Hasanov gave the guest extensive information about the activities of the Center. He stated that, The Center was established in 2014 by decree of President Ilham Aliyev and has implemented and continues to implement very important and effective projects aimed at protecting the culture, language, and beliefs of minority peoples. Ravan Hasanov stated that, The Center organizes the teaching of the subject "Azerbaijani Multiculturalism" at leading universities around the world. This is very significant in terms of the formation of tolerance and multicultural thinking in future generations. Executive director informed that, one of the Center's important projects is the International Multiculturalism Summer and Winter Schools, which have become a tradition and are regularly organized twice a year. The purpose of the summer and winter schools is to create conditions for students studying Azerbaijani multiculturalism at foreign and local universities to see and witness with their own eyes what they have learned theoretically in our country, where multicultural and tolerant values are protected and lived.
Ravan Hasanov noted that multicultural values have been utmost important in Azerbaijan for centuries, and that representatives of different peoples and cultures live here without any discrimination.  
He emphasized that our country strives to establish mutual understanding and feelings of solidarity among representatives of different religions around the world and is an example in this regard. He mentioned that, "Baku Process" was launched in 2008 with the aim of establishing a fruitful and effective dialogue between cultures and civilizations in accrodance with the initiative of the Republic of Azerbaijan. He emphazied that, The basis of Azerbaijan acting as the initiator of such a global movement is the presence of communities with historically different religious affiliations, national-ethnic groups and rich cultural diversity in its territory.
Expressing his gratitude for the meeting, Michael Freylik talked about the role and promotion of multiculturalism in the modern world, emphasizing the importance of the policy implemented by Azerbaijan in this direction. He much appreciated the activities of the Baku International Multiculturalism Center in this area. Finally, the guest was presented with the book "Onomastics of Truth", published by the Baku International Multiculturalism Center.
