The XVI International School of Multiculturalism continues in Guba

The XVI International School of Multiculturalism organized by the Baku International Multiculturalism Center (BBMM) called "Diversity and Equality: Building an Inclusive Future" continues its work in Guba. 25 students from Azerbaijan, Russia, Bulgaria, Brazil, Serbia, Romania, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Iraq, Moldova, Turkey, Japan, Poland, South Korea, Zimbabwe, China, Yemen, Pakistan, Morocco and Mozambique participate in the XVI International School of Multiculturalism.  
Participants listened to a lecture on “Religious Diversity and Traditional Coexistence in Azerbaijan” on March 4. The lecture was presented by Anar Gafarov, Head of the Department of Religious Studies at the Azerbaijan Theological Institute. He gave  information about the centuries-old traditions of religious diversity and tolerance in Azerbaijani society in his speech. He emphasized that our country is one of the uncommon places where different religious communities live together in peace and mutual respect. He stated that the policy of multiculturalism and tolerance based on the historical traditions of the Azerbaijani people is supported at the state level. He talked about the impact of religious diversity on the social and cultural development of Azerbaijani society, the opportunities for dialogue and cooperation between religious communities, as well as the challenges that lie ahead in this area.
The lecture was received with great interest by the participants, and interactive discussions were held. 
In the end, the questions were answered.
          Note that the XVI International Multiculturalism School will continue until March 10. Participants will listen to lectures on various topics, “Introduce Your People” musical evenings will also be organized within the framework of school. Here, participating students will provide information about the culture, customs and traditions of their people.
Excursions will be organized in the Guba and Gusar regions - participants will get acquainted with the Guba Genocide Memorial Complex, the Red Settlement, the Museum of Mountain Jews, and visit the Six Domes and "Gilaki" synagogues
Guests will also visit the Heydar Mosque, the Russian Orthodox Church, the Synagogue of the Mountain Jews, and the Catholic Church of St. Mary. 
Later, the participants are scheduled to meet with Academician Kamal Abdullayev, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Baku International Multiculturalism Center, Ravan Hasanov, Executive Director of the Baku International Multiculturalism Center, Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade, Chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Board, and Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of the State Committee on Affairs Religious Associations. 
Let us remind you that, since its establishment, The Center implements a number of projects aimed at promoting Azerbaijani multiculturalism in the world, promoting and encouraging it in the international arena, as set by President Ilham Aliyev. One of the most significant projects of the Baku International Multiculturalism Center is the organization of International Multiculturalism Schools, which have already become a tradition and are regularly organized twice a year. The project is a logical continuation of the Baku International Multiculturalism Center project “Teaching the subject of Azerbaijani multiculturalism abroad and in country's universities”. The International Multiculturalism School is organized twice a year for students studying Azerbaijani multiculturalism in higher education institutions of the world and Azerbaijan within the framework of the educational project. The purpose here is to visually demonstrate what young students have learned theoretically about Azerbaijani multiculturalism.
