The XVI International School of Multiculturalism has been launched

The Baku International Multiculturalism Center (BIMC) has launched the 16th International Multiculturalism School named “Diversity and Equality: Building an Inclusive Future.” The School, which will continue until March 10, will operate in Baku as well as in the Guba and Gusar regions. 25 students from Azerbaijan, Russia, Bulgaria, Brazil, Serbia, Romania, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Iraq, Moldova, Turkey, Japan, Poland, South Korea, Zimbabwe, China, Yemen, Pakistan, Morocco and Mozambique participate in the XVI International School of Multiculturalism.    
The school participants first visited the Alley of Honor and deeply respected the memory of our National Leader, the architect and founder of the modern independent Azerbaijani state, Heydar Aliyev, and laid fresh flowers in front of his grave. The grave of famous ophthalmologist-scientist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva was also visited, and her memory was commemorated with deep respect. Then they visited the Alley of Martyrs, and the memory of the heroic sons of the Motherland who gave their lives in the struggle for the freedom and sovereignty of our country was commemorated with deep respect, and fresh carnations were placed on their graves.
Later school participants left for Guba region. 
Participants of the XVI International School of Multiculturalism will obtrain more information about the multicultural environment, tolerant spirit, ethnic and religious diversity in Azerbaijan, peaceful coexistence of representatives of different peoples and confessions in our country. 
Participants will listen to reports on the topics of “Religious diversity and traditional coexistence in Azerbaijan”, “The factor of multiculturalism in the formation of Azerbaijani society”, “Diversity and the Constitution - aspects of the development of a multicultural society in Azerbaijan”. The reports will be presented by Anar Gafarov, Head of the Religious Studies Department of the Azerbaijan Theological Institute, Irina Kunina, Head of the Projects Department of the Baku International Center for Multiculturalism, and Esmira Tagiyeva, Head of the Law and Human Resources Department of the Azerbaijan State Information Agency. “Introduce Your People” musical evenings will also be organized within the framework of the International School of Multiculturalism. Here, participating students will provide information about the culture, customs and traditions of their people.
Excursions will be organized in the Guba and Gusar regions - participants will get acquainted with the Guba Genocide Memorial Complex, the Red Settlement, the Museum of Mountain Jews, and visit the Six Domes and "Gilaki" synagogues.
Guests will also visit the Heydar Mosque, the Russian Orthodox Church, the Synagogue of the Mountain Jews, and the Catholic Church of St. Mary. 
Later, the participants are scheduled to meet with Academician Kamal Abdullayev, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Baku International Multiculturalism Center, Ravan Hasanov, Executive Director of the Baku International Multiculturalism Center, Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade, Chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Board, and Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of the State Committee on Affairs Religious Associations.  
Let us remind you that, since its establishment, The Center implements a number of projects aimed at promoting Azerbaijani multiculturalism in the world, promoting and encouraging it in the international arena, as set by President Ilham Aliyev. One of the most significant projects of the Baku International Multiculturalism Center is the organization of International Multiculturalism Schools, which have already become a tradition and are regularly organized twice a year. The project is a logical continuation of the Baku International Multiculturalism Center project “Teaching the subject of Azerbaijani multiculturalism abroad and in country's universities”. The International Multiculturalism School is organized twice a year for students studying Azerbaijani multiculturalism in higher education institutions of the world and Azerbaijan within the framework of the educational project. The purpose here is to visually demonstrate what young students have learned theoretically about Azerbaijani multiculturalism.
