WINTER SCHOOL OF MULTICULTURALISM CONTINUES IN KHACMAZ
XIII International Multiculturalism Winter School organized by the Baku International Multiculturalism Center (BBMM) entitled "Unity in cultural diversity: the example of Azerbaijan" continus its work in Khachmaz.
The participants listened to a lecture on "Language policy and multilingualism in Azerbaijan" on February 23.
The lecture was presented by the vice-rector for international relations of Azerbaijan University of Languages, professor Jala Garibova. He gave detailed information to the participants about the priorities of the language policy implemented after the independence of Azerbaijan. At the same time, the approach to language policy in our country during the former Soviet period was also reflected in the lecture.
It was stated that the state policy related to national and religious minorities in Azerbaijan has always been highly appreciated by relevant international institutions. Our country's policy and experience in this field are an example for other countries. It is important to introduce Azerbaijan, where multiculturalism has become a way of life to the world as an example of tolerance.
It was mentioned that, languages of ethnic minorities has always been treated with special attention in Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan is one of the exemplary countries regarding the protection of the rights of minorities, specifically care for their languages. The rich experience of national, religious and cultural tolerance that has come from centuries can reduce the problems to minimum level in that direction in the country even today. Russians, Jews, Talyshes, Lezgis, Tats, Georgians and other national minorities live in a friendly family in Azerbaijan, they have schools, publications, press agencies.
During the day, the participants of the XIII International Multiculturalism Winter School will get acquainted with the Museum of History and Folklore, the Open-air Museum of Personalities and other sights in the city of Khachmaz. At the end of the day, a musical evening "Introduce Your Nation" will be organized. During the musical evening, the participants will provide information about the history, culture, and ethnic diversity of their country.
Let's remind that, XIII International Multiculturalism Winter School dedicated to "Heydar Aliyev Year" will last until February 26.
The students from the leading universities of Azerbaijan, Turkey, Brazil, Romania, Germany, Palestine, Russia, United States of America, Georgia, Pakistan, Iraq, Bulgaria, Mozambique, Central African Republic, Syria, Sri Lanka, China and Japan are participating in XIII International Multiculturalism Winter School.
