Azerbaijani model of multiculturalism was appreciated at the conference of the Council of Europe
On December 6, the Council of Europe held a conference on "Initiatives and exchange of experience to promote intercommunal and interreligious dialogue and mutual respect" by the initiative of the Special Representative on Anti-Semitism, Islamophobia and other forms of religious intolerance and hate crimes.
Ravan Hasanov, executive director of Baku International Multiculturalism Center, made a speech at the conference. In his speech, R. Hasanov gave detailed information about the existing multiculturalism policy, religious and state relations in Azerbaijan, as well as the activities and projects implemented by Baku International Multiculturalism Center. The exemplary model of Azerbaijani multiculturalism was met with special interest by experts and representatives of international organizations from various countries such as Germany, France, Finland, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Italy, the Netherlands and Hungary. In particular, the important role played by our country in intercultural and interreligious dialogue and the initiatives of the President of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev, the complete absence of cases of anti-Semitism and discrimination in our country caused additional questions from the participants. The issue of close cooperation with Baku International Multiculturalism Center in the future in this direction was also emphasized at the conference. At the end of the event, Special Representative Daniel Holtgen thanked all the participants.
