On 24 July the book “The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on the Azerbaijani Model of Multiculturalism” was presented to the public representatives of the districts of Western region in the Youth Centre of the District of Gazakh.

Prior to the presentation the participants of the meeting visited the monument erected to the National Leader Heydar Aliyev in the centre of the city of Gazakh and bouquets of flowers were laid in front of the monument.

Opening the meeting the Head of the Executive Power of the District of Gazakh Rajab Babashov greeted the guests.

The Head of Department at Baku International Centre of Multiculturalism Yadigar Mammadli spoke of the activities of the Centre and the projects implemented by it.

It was stated that the policy of multiculturalism of the Republic of Azerbaijan was founded by the National Leader Heydar Aliyev. At present this policy is being successfully continued by the decent follower of the National Leader, President Ilham Aliyev. The policy of multiculturalism pursued under the guidance of President Ilham ALiyev consolidates the processes of integration in the country. And internationally, this policy has a strong impact on the development of intercultural and inter-religious dialogue. The declaration of 2016 as “the Year of Multiculturalism” and 2017 as “the Year of Islamic Solidarity” at the initiative of President Ilham ALiyev is the bright example of importance attached to the policy of multiculturalism by the state.

In his speech the Rector of Azerbaijan Institute of Theology Jeyhun Mammadov emphasized that the achievements of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the policy of multiculturalism are admitted by the world countries. Further the intelligentsia representatives and believers of Gazakh District shared their views on the tolerant ambiance and multicultural values historically formed in Azerbaijan, focused the attention of the meeting participants to the high level of the relations between the state and religion in our country on the basis of real life examples. Thus, they underlined multiculturalism and tolerance as the basis of stability in our country and the importance of further maintenance of this policy.

It was noted that the book presented to the readers and published in Azerbaijani, Russian and English embraces President Ilham Aliyev’s valuable ideas about the Azerbaijani model of multiculturalism expressed in his interviews and speeches since 2003. The book deals with the projects implemented by Azerbaijan to develop multiculturalism including intercultural and inter-religious dialogue at the initiative and under the guidance of the Head of our state, as well as the national and international  achievements  in this field.

The idea about the book came from the Head of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Academician Ramiz Mehdiyev, its consultant is the Assistant of the Azerbaijani President on Social and Political Issues, PhD in History, Professor Ali Hasanov, its compilers are the Head of the Department of Interethnic Relations, Multiculturalism and Religious Issues of the Presidential Administration, PhD in Philosophy, Professor Etibar Najafov, the Chair of the Board of Trustees of Baku International Centre of Multiculturalism, Academician Kamal Abdulla, the editor-in-chief of AZERTAC Javid Badalov and the Head of Department at Baku International Centre of Multiculturalism Sarkhanbey Khudiyev.
