Ismayil Kikibai: Seeing the destroyed cities and villages in Karabakh was a heartbreaking scene
I am very happy to be in this multicultural country. Our delegation includes Jews, Christian bishops and priests, and Muslim clerics. We are very pleased with what we saw in Azerbaijan.
Ismail Kikibai, director of the Islamic Center of Inglewood in Los Angeles, expressed these thoughts in an interview with journalists after a round table dedicated to the topic of "Ensuring multiculturalism and religious harmony against all threats" at Baku International Multiculturalism Center (BIMC).
He said that religious harmony and peaceful coexistence prevail in Azerbaijan. "At the same time, we also visited the lands freed from occupation - Karabakh. Seeing the destroyed cities and villages in Karabakh was a heartbreaking scene. On the other hand, Azerbaijan has started restoration and reconstruction works on those lands. I hope that the destroyed objects will soon be restored and returned to their former state. Religious harmony and life in peace in Azerbaijan will spread to those lands as well," added Ismayil Kikibai.
