A book discussing the activities of Poles in Azerbaшjan was presented in the Multiculturalism Center
On February 11, Baku International Multiculturalism Center hosted the presentation of Dr. Nasiman Yagublu's book "Activities of the Poles in Azerbaijan", which tells about the life of the Poles living in Azerbaijan.
The book examines the services of the Poles who lived in Azerbaijan in the development of the oil industry in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the work of Polish architects in the field of architecture in Baku, as well as their activities during the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic and their close participation in the independent state-building process of Azerbaijan.
Speaking at the event moderated by Ravan Hasanov, executive director of Baku International Multiculturalism Center, Michal Grecilo, representative of the Polish Embassy in Azerbaijan, said that the economic, political and cultural relations between the two countries are based on a long history, and official Warsaw attaches great importance to relations with Azerbaijan, which is a promising partner. The representative of the embassy also noted that projects dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the restoration of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Poland will be implemented.
The author of the book, Nasiman Yagublu, said in his speech that the publication is a fundamental source for studying Azerbaijani-Polish relations and the system of our international relations as a whole.
The author said that the first sources about the history of Azerbaijan-Poland relations date back to the 15th century, and it was from that period that the basis of correspondence between the two nations was laid. He pointed out that the Poles always support our country in promoting Azerbaijan in the international world.
Member of the Milli Majlis Jeyhun Mammadov noted that there are many points in common in the relations between the two countries. He emphasized that one of the 23 states that recognized Azerbaijan during the People's Republic was Poland, and taking into account these historical facts, there were pleasant and sincere relations between the two nations.
It should be noted that the activities of Polish experts who played a significant role in the modernization of Baku city and the creation of legal system areas are also presented in the book with reference to archival documents. The book contains a large number of photographs and archival documents on the activities of the Poles.
The foreword to the publication was written by Rafal Poborski, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Poland to Azerbaijan.
Olga Alekseyevna Yujanina-Makolevska, the head of the "Polonia-Azerbaijan Polish Community" Public Union, Telman Huseynov, the deputy head of the Public Union, Robert Bagratovich, the chairman of the Albanian-Udi Christian community, Boran Aziz, associate professor of Baku State University, and Yuri Osadchenko, the chairman of the Ukrainian-Azerbaijani Congress, also participated at the event.
