Marina Goncharuk: Azerbaijan has taken on a great mission in promoting multiculturalism
Guba, February 17
I represent Ukraine in this year's International Multiculturalism Winter School. We implement a number of projects in our country based on the practice of Azerbaijan in interreligious and intercultural relationships, especially among young people. Ukrainian youth and students are very interested in learning from this positive model. I am very pleased to have the opportunity to visit Guba, known as the center of multiculturalism in Azerbaijan. I've heard a lot about this place. It was very interesting to meet with members of the Mountain Jews’ religious community and get to know the synagogues closely.
Marina Gancharuk, participant of the 10th International Multiculturalism Winter School Project, organized by Baku International Multiculturalism Center, spoke.
Goncharuk said that Azerbaijan has taken on a great mission in promoting multiculturalism. “It was important for me to learn about the lifestyle of Jewish people living in Guba. Because we read lectures about the activities of Baku International Multiculturalism Center and the tolerant environment in Azerbaijan at events organized at the Ukrainian universities. Based on that information, Ukrainians have an idea of Azerbaijan. The model of tolerance here is an integral part of Azerbaijan's promotion to the world”, Goncharuk said.
