10th International Multiculturalism Winter School brings together representatives from 19 countries
On February 16, participants of the 10th International Multiculturalism Winter School entitled "Contribution of Azerbaijani multiculturalism model to the world peace" organized by Baku International Multiculturalism Center (BIMC), listened to the first lecture in Guba.
Lecture by Rafi Gurbanov, Deputy Executive Director of the Moral Values Promotion Foundation, entitled "Values in the context of national interest: society and state" was welcomed by the participants.
Speaking about the state's policy on interests, the speaker said that in the world practice, national interests are manifested in three directions. These include normative legal acts, political will and institutional framework. The Azerbaijani model of the directions presented in the lecture was analyzed and extensive exchange of views was held on the results. At the end, there was a quiz entitled “What do we know about Azerbaijan?” among the participants and the winner was presented with a gift from the Moral Values Promotion Foundation.
International Multiculturalism Summer and Winter Schools Project is a logical continuation of “Teaching Azerbaijani multiculturalism at foreign and local universities” Project. The purpose of the winter and summer schools organized for students studying Azerbaijani multiculturalism at 21 foreign and 38 Azerbaijani prestigious higher education institutions under the educational project is to enable those young people to see and witness with their own eyes what they have learned theoretically, in our country where the values of multiculturalism and tolerance are preserved.
25 students from the leading universities of countries such as Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Colombia, Croatia, India, Iraq, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania, Montenegro, Moldova, Nigeria, Portugal, Russia, Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe, Turkey, USA and Brazil attend the 10th International Multiculturalism School, which will last until February 22. Lectures on the multicultural situation, tolerant atmosphere, ethnic and religious diversity, peaceful coexistence of different peoples and different confessions in Azerbaijan will be presented to the participants of the winter school.
As a result of multiculturalism summer and winter schools, which have already become a valuable tradition, a communication platform and powerful lobby consisting of the intellectual young people who support the rightful work of our country in the image of young friends of Azerbaijan and their immediate surroundings abroad, has been formed. The ongoing intensive process proves that the goals set by President Ilham Aliyev towards Azerbaijan's promotion in the world are being successfully implemented.
