Multiculturalism Center holds a series of events in Morocco
Anar Rahimov, a senior teacher of the Innovations in Education department of Azerbaijan University of Languages and deputy dean of the faculty of Additional Education and Practice, has given lectures in prestigious state universities of the Kingdom of Morocco with the organizational support of Baku International Multiculturalism Center. The lecture presented at the Ibn Zohr University, which is located in the Moroccan city of Agadir and is considered the second largest state university of the country, was titled “Religious, ethnic and linguistic diversity and tolerance in Azerbaijan.” During the lecture, it was stressed that there is an ethnocultural and religious diversity in our country, where peoples live in a friendly and harmonious environment and the state allocates subsidies for them, and even a church of Armenians, who have occupied our lands, has not been demolished and is still preserved as a religious monument in Baku. The lecture aroused great interest in the audience of the Ibn Zohr University, which has 130,000 students and 15 faculties. Alongside with students, the teacher/professor staff and doctoral students of the university also attended the event. At the end of the lecture, the participants’ questions about the past history, present state and future prospects of the religious and ethnic diversity in our country were answered.
Anar Rahimov has also given a lecture on the topic of “Azerbaijan’s multiculturalism model as an example for world countries” to the postgraduate students of the Eastern Countries and Cultures faculty of the Cadi Ayyad University of Morocco. The lecture was attended by local and foreign students.
In the framework of the meetings held in the Moroccan universities, an initial agreement has been reached for the teaching of the “Azerbaijani multiculturalism” subject by Baku International Multiculturalism Center at higher education institutions of Morocco in the near future.
