Azerbaijani multiculturalism taught in Brazil
Baku, October 17
A series of lectures on the theme of multiculturalism are being conducted at Brazil’s State University with the support of Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL), Azerbaijani Embassy in Brazil and Baku International Multiculturalism Center.
According to the Azerbaijani Embassy in Brazil, more than 30 people will attend the lectures that will continue for two weeks.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the courses, Azerbaijani ambassador to Brazil Elkhan Polukhov emphasized the importance of tolerance, preservation of cultural, religious and linguistic diversity, and promotion of multiculturalism models. The ambassador stressed that the leadership of Azerbaijan pays special attention to these issues.
The 30-hour courses conducted with the participation of professor Leyla Bijos and professor of AUL Ms. Irina Kunina will impart in-depth knowledge to local students about the roots of multiculturalism and tolerance in Azerbaijan, complemented by comparisons with the Brazilian model.
Materials about our country are intended to be distributed to event participants during the courses.
To note, these lectures on Azerbaijani multiculturalism represent a groundbreaking experience in Latin America, which is intended to be replicated in several other countries of the region.
