International conference “Islamophobia in Focus: Unveiling Bias, Shattering Stigmas” concludes in Baku

The two-day international conference titled “Islamophobia in Focus: Unveiling Bias, Shattering Stigmas” concluded in Baku on May 27.

The final session of the conference, on the topic “EULEMA Special Focus: Islamophobia in Europe,” was moderated by Imam Yahya Pallavicini, Vice President of COREIS (Islamic Religious Community of Italy) and Chairman of EULEMA (European Muslim Leaders’ Majlis).

The session explored how Islamophobia occurs when political parties and institutions present hostile, inaccurate, and deceptive narratives about Islam and Muslims, which, in turn, target not only Islam but also the millions of Europeans who believe in this religion. The speakers emphasized that religion should never be a tool for hatred and division.

Among the distinguished speakers were Edin Hamzakadić, Imam of the Sarajevo Independence Mosque; David Munir, Imam of the Central Mosque of Lisbon; and Geicun Mustafa, advisor to the Mufti of the Muslim Community in Romania.

In conclusion, a joint communiqué was adopted.
