Safeguarding Islamic cultural heritage in spotlight of Baku-hosted international conference
As part of the international conference titled “Islamophobia in Focus: Unveiling Bias, Shattering Stigmas”, a panel discussion on “Safeguarding Islamic Cultural Heritage in a Changing World” was held in Baku.
Moderated by Hassan Al Momani, Director of the Center for Strategic Studies (CSS) at the University of Jordan, the session explored how transforming Islamic cultural heritage into a strategic tool responds to ongoing challenges. The speakers emphasized that the history of the liberation and restoration of Karabakh shows that religious architectural monuments play an essential role in preserving memory in every society.
Among the distinguished speakers were Professor Damir Mukhetdinov, First Deputy Chairman of the Muslim Spiritual Administration of the Russian Federation, Muhammad Bechari, Secretary General of the World Muslim Communities Council, Gaya Mammadov, Member of the Milli Majlis, Mohamed Al Bayoumi, Secretary-General of Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, and Mohammed Shummary, Director of the Sumer Foundation for International Affairs.
The session featured engaging discussions and heated debates, reflecting the urgency and complexity of the topic.
