A Presentation on the Decennary of “Baku Process” at Baku International Centre of Multiculturalism
After viewing a documentary dedicated to “Baku Process” at the event the Head of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Culture, the Secretary of the International Task Force of “Baku Process” Vasif Eyvazzadeh gave information on the history, political importance of “Baku Process” and the forums held in the frames of this international initiative such as the World Forums on Intercultural Dialogue, the 7th Global Forum of the UN Alliance of Civilizations and Baku International Humanitarian Forum.
It was pointed out that this regional initiative, which enjoyed an exceptional place in intercultural dialogue between Europe and the Muslim world in 2008-2009, has turned into a global project and movement, as the Head of our state suggested the World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue at the UN General Assembly in 2010.
It was emphasized at the presentation that “Baku Process” is the only global platform promoting dialogue and cooperation among religions, cultures ad different nations, and the main distinction of this platform is that it has such partners as the UNESCO, the UN Alliance of Civilizations, the World Tourism Organization, the Council of Europe and the ISESCO. It is owing to this reason that referring to the World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue in its decision titled “Promoting Interreligious, Intercultural Dialogue, Mutual Understanding and Cooperation for Peace” and calling it the basic global platform for the promotion of intercultural dialogue, the UN General Assembly appraised the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres’ report. The report underlines that “Baku Process”, which has been carried out since 2008, constitutes the key line of the efforts made to support the intercultural dialogue.
It was pointed out that by President Ilham Aliyev’s relevant Instruction it was decided to hold Baku International Humanitarian Forum every two years in the frames of “Baku Process”. The guideline of the “Baku Forum” to be held in the October of the current year will especially be targeted at human development. It means that the main goal of “Baku Process” at the subsequent stage will be the exchange, dialogue of successes and achievements, along with the intercultural dialogue.
By the end of the event there was an extensive discussion on the guidelines of joint activities of the Ministry of Culture with Baku International Centre of Multiculturalism.
