Azerbaijan is one of the leading countries both in socio-political and cultural fields. Azerbaijan enjoys cultural cooperation with the Republic of India, like with other countries. It was proved by an event held at Baku Music Academy after Uzeyir Hajibeyli a few days ago. The creative and interactive meeting on the theme “Oriental Music and Multicultural Values” jointly arranged by the Embassy of India, Baku International Centre of Multiculturalism and Baku Music Academy after Uzeyir Hajibeyli has been highly appraised. The leader of the project and announcer of the event was Professor Mina Hajiyeva, the receiver of the CIS Inter-parliamentary Association badge “For the Merits in the Development of Culture and Art”. First, to open the event the floor was given to the Vice-rector for Educational Issues of Baku Music Academy after Uzeyir Hajibeyli, Honoured teacher, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Narmina Guliyeva. Ms.Guliyeva welcomed Mr. Ambassador, the Acting Executive Director of Baku International Centre of Multiculturalism Ravan Hasanov, the Indian dancer Ms. Nisha Govindan, who has demonstrated a wonderful dance, and other guests, and expressed her desire to often see them at Baku Music Academy. Further, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of India to the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Sanjay Rana spoke and stated that he also enjoys being at Baku Music Academy and among the musicians. Mr. Ambassador gave information on Indian music, Indian ragas and noted that they have brought to us the Indian Music Oxford Encyclopedia in 3 volumes, Indian ragas (in disc), the Indian national musical instruments sarangi, sarode and santoor as gifts. At her presentation on Indian music, Indian musical instruments, the MA student of Baku Music Academy, musician Alizadeh Konul stated that as one of the most ancient countries of the world, India is ahead of the most ancient civilizations and enjoys a rich historical-cultural legacy. Solmaz Hasanova gave information on Aarti, Indian dances and demonstrated a wonderful dance. Finally, the MA students of Baku Music Academy jointly presented a flash mob consisting of an Indian dance. This dance was warmly applauded by the guests and audience. In the end, on behalf of Baku Music Academy the guests were given the presents from the Azerbaijani people to the Indian people – Professor Mina Hajiyeva’s books – on the founder of Azerbaijani professional music Uzeyir Hajibeyli, on Gara Garayev who raised this music to the international level and on the philosophical realm of Firangiz Alizadeh music – in 3 volumes in Azerbaijani, Russian and English, as well as the books on Azerbaijani mugham, which is the confidante of the Indian ragas.
