A book presentation held at Baku International Multiculturalism Center

Since its establishment Baku International Multiculturalism Center has been implementing various projects in the direction of protecting the culture, language and traditions of the peoples living in Azerbaijan. Today's presentation is one of the works done within those projects.

These words were spoken by the executive director of Baku International Multiculturalism Center, Ravan Hasanov, during the presentation of Gurban Said's novel "Ali and Nino" in the Lezgin, Talysh and Uda languages, "Anthology of Talysh poetry" of the 19th and 20th centuries, and the collection of short stories "Kvezila... - I wish".

 

The executive director emphasized that multiculturalism has been raised to the state level in Azerbaijan and noted that the foundation of this policy was laid by national leader Heydar Aliyev. Recalling the words of President Ilham Aliyev, "Multiculturalism is the main asset of the Azerbaijani state", Ravan Hasanov noted the main role played by this priceless asset of our state in the Second Karabakh War. He said that the multicultural face of Azerbaijan was embodied in the cultural examples presented during the "Khari Bulbul" festival held in Shusha on the initiative of President Ilham Aliyev.

The Executive Director noted that the novel "Ali and Nino", written by Gurban Said in German, translated into English and Turkish and published in German in Vienna in 1937, was one of the works that made the first impression in Europe about the South Caucasus, and added that the love story of an Azerbaijani boy and a Georgian girl is "spoken" in the leading languages of the world.

The presentation was continued with the speeches of Imamverdi Hamidov, the elder of the Talish Community, Sadagat Karimova, the editor-in-chief of the "Samur" newspaper published in Lezgi language, Robert Mobili, the chairman of the Alban-Udi Christian Religious Community, the elder of the Kurdish Community, the author of one of the presented books Ahmad Hapo, and others.
