Today Baku International Centre of Multiculturalism has hosted the festivity dedicated to Novruz Holiday.
The festivity was attended by the staff members of the Service of the State Counsel on Multiculturalism, Interethnic and Religious Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the members and chiefs of over 20 national and religious communities in our country, representatives of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, Baku Slavic University, the Knowledge Foundation under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. After the Executive Director Azad Mammadov greeted the guests in the ceremony, the Senior Adviser of the Service of the State Council on Multiculturalism, Interethnic and Religious Affairs, Professor Etibar Najafov, the Deputy Chair of the Religious Department of Transcaucasia Muslems Fuad Nurullayev, the representative of the Orthodox Organization of the Baku and Caspian Eparchy of the Russian Orthodox Church Mifodiy Efendiyev, the representative of Baku Religious Community of the Georgian Jews Moisey Bekker and the Vice President of the European Network of Intercultural Education Activities, Professor Svetlana Kurtesh delivered speeches. The guests spoke of multiculturalism as the lifestyle of everyone, along with its being the state policy in Azerbaijan. They stated that though being of different religions, races and nations, they feel proud of being the citizens of the state of Azerbaijan and serving the state.
In the artistic part of the Novruz festivity the representatives of the Bulgarian community recited the poem of Azerbaijan (written by Samad Vurghun) in Azerbaijani and Bulgarian, and sang different songs. And the representatives of the Tartar community performed the Tartar songs on Novruz Holiday in Persian.
