The Head of the Department of Intercultural Relations, Multiculturalism and Religious Issues of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan Etibar Najafov and the delegation representing the Embassy of our country to the Confederation of Switzerland visited the House of Religions and Dialogue of Cultures in Bern.
In the frames of the visit, first, the Director of the House of Religions David Leutwyler organized a brief tour for the Azerbaijani delegation. He stated that the Swiss House of Religions and Dialogue of Cultures is a unique space where the temples of the Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Indians and Alawites coexist. Besides, it was also mentioned that the Jews, Baha’is and Sikhs participate in the cultural programs organized by the House of Religions. According to him, the aim is to demonstrate the capacity of the supporters of religions, who are the part of the community, to co-exist and have a dialogue. Therefore, all the cultural and educational programs organized by the House of Religions are dedicated to the rise of the level of awareness of religions, the issues of inter-religious dialogue and co-existence.
Further Etibar Mammadov gave information to his interlocutors on the traditions of multiculturalism in Azerbaijan and the political-legal bases of multiculturalism in our country, and emphasized the support to and development of these traditions by the state at present stating that multiculturalism is the lifestyle of Azerbaijani society. The representative of the House of Religions in Bern was thoroughly informed on “Baku Process” initiated by the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue held once in two years in our country, and he was also invited to join the event.
In the end, the parties exchanged views on the cooperation potentials between Baku International Centre of Multiculturalism and the Swiss House of Religions and Dialogue of Cultures.
